Blue Wave Baseball has named Ray Lopez as Director of Operations and new staff and coaches that will focus on Blue Wave 16U Underclass and 17U/18U Varsity prospect teams for 2025.

Lopez is also director of the Tustin Knights Baseball Academy, one of the premier travel ball teams in Orange County, California. The academy is dedicated to developing young athletes aged 9-14 through top-tier training, competitive opportunities, and a supportive environment.

Coach Lopez will deliver a holistic approach focusing on physical skills, mental strategy, and character development, with expert coaching from professionals and collegiate players.

“We offer comprehensive programs covering all aspects of the game, including hitting, pitching, fielding, and conditioning,” Coach Lopez states. “We are looking for great players to compete in elite tournaments that showcase your talents, and become part of a team that values excellence, hard work, and sportsmanship.”

Coach Lopez’s sons Nick and Christian, both top prospects in high school and collegiate play, will join him in working with Blue Wave high school-level programs, teams and showcases.

At the same time, Coach Lopez has named two highly regarded coaches for the 2025 Blue Wave 17U/18U Varsity team, adding former professional players Chad Clark and Darrell Sherman.

Blue Wave Varsity Coach Chad Clark not only has D1 and MLB pitching experience, but he was a highly recruited player in high school, an MLB sports agent, and a top adviser for young players serious about playing at the next level.

Joining him to coach Blue Wave’s top prospects will be Coach Darrell Sherman, who has 18+ years of professional baseball experience as an outfielder and top hitter as well as a hitting coach of the Eugene Emeralds, a coach for Long Beach Wilson High School, the Tomateros de Culiacán, and at Cerritos College.

Lopez expects to conduct tryouts for both the Underclass and Varsity prospect summer teams in early May, with practice sessions in the Tustin area.

Blue Wave Underclass and Varsity teams are expected to play in local top tournaments and showcases against top competition in events hosted by Five Tool, USA Premier, Prospect Wire, CCYB Collegiate Showcases, Perfect Game, and Prep Baseball Report.
