Blue Wave Baseball is now recruiting top players for our 15U, 16U and 17U/18U 2025 teams.
Blue Wave 15U is for incoming freshmen (2029 grad year) and will practice twice weekly and play local games on Sundays and occasional local tournaments.
Blue Wave 16U Underclass comprises top high school prospects who play at the JV or varsity level. They will also practice twice weekly and play in top local tournaments and showcase events.
Blue Wave 17U/18U Varsity is for college prospects who play or start on their high school varsity team, regardless of high school level (2028-2026 grad years). In addition to twice-weekly practice, Blue Wave Varsity will compete in top local tournaments and showcase events, including:

- Five Tool AABC Connie Mack World Series Qualifier June 19-22
- USA Premier/Prospect Wire Firecracker Classic June 25-29
- CCYB Underclass Collegiate Showcase July 6-8
- CCYB Varsity Collegiate Showcase July 10-12
- Five-Tool West World Series July 30-Aug 3
Blue Wave is looking for serious players who are committed to the process. Each team is limited to only 12 roster spots! We aim to make good players great and take them to the next level in their game.
TRYOUTS SET IN APRIL
Tryouts will be held at 9 AM on Sunday, April 6 and April 13 at Foothill High School, 199251 Dodge Ave, Santa Ana.
All new and returning players must attend tryouts as, again, these teams are limited to 12 roster spots and require dedicated players and parents.
PLAYERS MUST REGISTER ONLINE
All players must register to tryout or play with Blue Wave at www.bluewaveathletics.com/registration.
Registration is free and covers insurance requirements. Returning players also need to re-register or update their present registration.
BLUE WAVE 2025 COSTS
Our Blue Wave 2025 program costs below are based on a limited roster of 12 positions for each team, 15U Freshmen, 16U Underclass, and 17U/18U Varsity.
YEARLY REGISTRATION FEE
Each player plays a $350 yearly registration and includes a Dri-fit team shirt and cap. The 2025 Yearly Registration is paid upon joining a Blue Wave team.
MONTHLY TRAINING FEE
Upon paying the Yearly Registration fee, all players will pay $150 per month for two weekly workout/practice sessions that will be scheduled and held at Foothill High School, Santa Ana College, or OC Great Park. Monthly fees are paid prior to the first practice of the month.
GAME FEES
Players will also pay $35 per local scrimmage and friendly games as scheduled and played at local fields against local teams and clubs.
TOURNAMENT/SHOWCASE FEES
Tournaments and Showcase events are priced separately with player fees on costs based on entry fees and coaching fees.
Tournament Fees for June & July Tournaments are:
- Five-Tool So Cal Summer Kickoff May 30-June 1: Local venues play host. This event has a 3-game guarantee and will be a round robin format. Full social media coverage is provided with over 2000 scouts and colleges following Five Tool channels online. Blue Wave 16U Underclass and Blue Wave 17U/18U Varsity teams are set to play in this event that features either metal or wood bats. Cost is $200 per player.
- Five-Tool AABC Connie Mack World Series Qualifier June 19-22: Four (4) game guarantee – tournament format – with the winner receiving a paid berth (with travel stipend) to the 2025 Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, New Mexico. Games will be played in high school fields. Full social media coverage is provided with over 2,000 scouts and colleges following Five Tool channels online. Blue Wave 17U/18U Varsity team only. Played on local high school and college fields. Cost is $225 per player.
USA Premier/Prospect Wire Firecracker Classic June 25-29: 4-game guaranteed, Live Scoring, Live Streaming. Social Media Coverage. Profiles updated with stats, Team Awards, MVP, MVPitcher, All Tournament Teams. Prospect Wire Collegiate Identification Event for 2027, 2028, 2029 GRADS. Games at OC Great Park, Cypress Park, and Windrow Park in Irvine. Blue Wave will field Blue Wave 16U Underclass and Blue Wave 17U/18U Varsity teams for this event. Blue Wave won the 2024 18U Firecracker Classic last summer. Cost is $250 per player.
- CCYB Underclass Collegiate Showcase July 6-8: This is an invite-only event with the top underclass teams in California. Each team plays one 8 inning game daily with a four-run per inning to maximize player exposure. This is a wood-bat-only event played at Fullerton JV, Biola University, Amerige Park, and Maverick Field. For 2027 and 2028 grads with some exceptions. Cost is $250 per player based on limited roster.
- CCYB Varsity Collegiate Showcase July 10-15: Hosts the top 48 travel ball programs from the West Coast for high school varsity players that will showcase their skills to major college and university baseball scouts from CSF, Concordia, FJC, UC Irvine, UCLA, Long Beach St, Hawaii, Cal Baptist, UC Davis, U of San Francisco, Oregon, BYU, UC Riverside, Sac State, Chapman, CBU, San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Utah Tech, Lewis & Clark, Pomona, Pepperdine, CSU Northridge, LMU, UCSD, CUI, Biola, Arizona State, Redlands, Yakima Valley, Westcliff, Cal Poly SLO, Fordham, Florida Marlins, Gonzaga, Grace University, USC, Fresno St, CSU Pueblo, Washington, Toronto Blue Jays, LA Angels, St Mary’s, LaVerne, RCC, GCU, Pomona – Pitzer, Arizona St, HIU, UNLV, Arizona State, Santa Barbara, and more.
- Each team plays one 9-inning game each day of the session with a four-run max per inning. This is a wood bat only event that is sponsored by Adidas – Buckboard BBQ – Bownet – Web Flex L-Screens – 100% Sunglasses. Cost is $250 per player.
- Five-Tool West World Series: July 30-Aug 3: The 5th Annual West World Series is held at Great Park Sports Complex and other local sites in Orange County. This event has a 4-game guarantee and is specifically for 15U-18U teams. Full social media coverage is provided with over 2000 scouts and colleges following Five Tool channels online. Metal or wood bats. Both Blue Wave 16U and Blue Wave 17U/18U Varsity teams will attend. Cost is $250 per player based on a roster limited to 12 position players.

BLUE WAVE FEATURES TOP COACHES
RAY LOPEZ – MANAGING DIRECTOR
Coach Ray Lopez directs the Blue Wave Baseball high school-level programs and teams.
Coach Lopez has run the Tustin Knights since 2009 and has worked with the Foothill High School baseball program for many years.
He will work with all Blue Wave 16U Underclass and 17U/18U Varsity teams, focusing on player development and providing the tools and competition for Blue Wave players to compete at a higher level.
CHAD CLARK – BLUE WAVE 17U/18U COACH
Coach Chad Clark not only has D1 and MLB pitching experience, but he was a highly recruited player in high school, an MLB sports agent, and a top adviser for young players serious about playing at the next level.
Coach Clark was highly recruited as a junior at Glendora High School, where Baseball America ranked him the No. 3 junior in the country. He was also selected to play on the 18U USA team in the World Games in Columbia.
Though the Milwaukee Brewers drafted him in high school in the 1999 MLB draft, Coach Clark decided to pursue his education and played on a full scholarship at USC, where he pitched in two College World Series.
He was redrafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2002 but signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks in the MLB 2003 draft after graduating from USC with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics that year.
After four years of professional ball, Coach Clark became an MLB agent in 2011. He opened his own agency in 2016 and represented three of the top 75 picks in the 2017 June draft.
He then represented 14 draft picks taken in the top three rounds in four consecutive drafts, several major leaguers over his career, and is well known for evaluating and developing pitchers.
Besides serving as Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach for Eastern New Mexico in 2023-24, Coach Clark is the Southern and West Coast Director for Elite Sports Advising.
DARRELL SHERMAN – BLUE WAVE 17U/18U COACH
Coach Darrell Sherman has 18+ years of professional baseball experience as an outfielder and top hitter.
Sherman graduated from Lynwood High School in California and attended Cerritos College, where his team posted a record of 84-11 in his two years there. He also set school records in runs scored, walks, times on base, and stolen bases.
Coach Sherman played at Long Beach State and helped lead the Dirtbags to the 1989 College World Series.
He was selected in the 1989 MLB draft by the San Diego Padres, where he played several years in their minor league system before making his MLB debut in 1993 against the Pirates.
In all, Coach Sherman played seven years in the minors, a year in the majors, and 11 seasons with foreign teams, including seven years in the Mexican League.
Before the 2008 season, he was named the hitting coach of the Eugene Emeralds and has also served as a coach for Long Beach Wilson High School, the Tomateros de Culiacán, and at Cerritos College.
NICK LOPEZ – INFIELD COACH
Coach Nick Lopez was a top infielder in his high school and college career, including JSerra Catholic School (2018), University of Illinois Chicago (2019-2020), Santa Ana College (2020-21), University of Southern California (2021-2023) and University of Kentucky (2023-2024) where he played in the College World Series.
CHRISTIAN LOPEZ – PITCHING COACH
Coach Christian Lopez was a top pitcher at Century High School, where he graduated in 2016, as well as for Cypress College (2016-2019) and the University of Illinois Chicago (2019-2020).
