Blue Wave Baseball defeated TKB 17U 9-3 (June 25, 2024) to win the 18U division championship in the annual USA Premier Firecracker Classic/Prospect Wire at OC Great Park, Irvine – one of the top tournaments in Southern California.

“We congratulate all our players and Coach Garcia in winning what many consider to be the grandfather of all major tournaments in Southern California each summer,” Blue Wave founder Steve Kruse noted.

In winning the tournament, Blue Wave went 5-1 in the 18U division by defeating MVP SD 18U 8-5 in the first game FRI June 21, then beat GT Tribe Inland Peak 5-2 SAT June 22, defeated BPA Black 18U 2-1 on SUN June 23, but lost 0-3 to Impact Baseball in the last seeding game MON June 24.

As the No. 1 seed, Blue Wave defeated BPA Black 2-0 in the semi-final TUE June 25 to set up the championship game that afternoon 9-3 against TKB 17U.

“I am very proud of this team, they are a scrappy group of players that were not going to go out without a fight at any time,” Coach Aron Garcia exclaimed.

For the tournament, Blue Wave 18U averaged 4.33 runs a game, allowing only 2.33 runs per game in scoring 26 runs, allowing 14 runs total.

Besides winning the team championship, Blue Wave players received numerous scouting highlights on Social Media by Prospect Wire and Blue Wave Catcher Marc Solomon (2025 CDM) was named tournament MVP and Owen Temple (2025 Canyon) named Pitcher MVP for the tournament.
