BLUE WAVE 2028

 

BLUE WAVE 2028 is coached by Aron Garcia, one of the top youth coaches in Southern California with a winning tradition and has seen several hundred of his players go on to college and professional ball over the years.

A long time Northwood High School baseball coach, his Blue Wave 2028 is for incoming freshmen that are focused on making their high school baseball team this summer and quickly moving from freshmen to high JV levels.

BLUE WAVE 2028 is for incoming freshmen (2028 grad year) that will practice, play local games in the 15U/16U level and participate in three high-end local tournaments/showcases starting in May and through July.

TRYOUTS 1st WEEK OF MAY

New Players must tryout at the conclusion of the general CIF season and posted at www.bluewaveathletics.com and set for:

  • SUN APRIL 28 – 1:00 PM @ TUSTIN HS VARSITY FIELD FIELD (FRESHMEN 15U 2028 AND 16U UNDERCLASS)
  • MON MAY 6 – 5:30 PM @ OC GREAT PARK FIELD 9, IRVINE
  • TUE MAY 6 – 5:30 PM @ OC GREAT PARK FIELD 9, IRVINE

New players must register online to try out, practice, or play with any Blue Wave team or participate in any Blue Wave event.

There is no cost to register and no cost to try out!

Returning players do not need to re-register but need to confirm their status with respective coach or

OPTIONAL WEEKLY PRACTICES & GAMES

Players selected for our Blue Wave summer teams will practice weekly in May and into June and July based on field availability. To date, the following practice sessions are scheduled:

  • TUE MAY   7 @ 7 PM AT OC GREAT PARK FIELD 9
  • TUE MAY 14 @ 7 PM AT OC GREAT PARK FIELD 9
  • TUE MAY 21 @ 7 PM AT OC GREAT PARK FIELD 9
  • TUE MAY 28 @ 7 PM AT OC GREAT PARK FIELD 9
  • TUE JUNE 4 @ 7 PM AT OC GREAT PARK FIELD 9

Our 90-minute practice sessions are optional for all players and cost $25 practice fee when player attends.

Blue Wave expects to set up several scrimmage games in May as players return from CIF playoffs, etc., with first tournaments starting over Memorial Day weekend as scheduled below.

Tune-up games or scrimmages are priced separately, typically in the $25 to $35 per game depending on costs.

Blue Wave 2028 is also expected to play a local tune-up tournament in May prior to the Memorial Day CCYB Adidas Spikes event.

BLUE WAVE 2028 FRESHMEN SHOWCASE TOURNAMENTS

  • May 24-27 CCYB Memorial Weekend Adidas Spikes at OC Great Park, Irvine. Play three nine-inning wood-bat games, top four teams play for championship. Winners receive 12 pairs of Adidas. For all incoming freshmen (2028 grads) only. Player Cost $175, Pitcher-Only Free. Roster is limited.
  • July 1-5 USA Premier/Prospect Wire Firecracker Classic at OC Great Park, Irvine. Prospect Wire has joined forces with USA Premier Baseball to take the granddaddy of all SoCal summer showcases to the next level by deliver five games against the best teams in the Western Region. This event features:
    • Great Facilities and Competition
    • Live Scoring and Live Streaming
    • Scouting Coverage by the PW Scouting Staff
    • Full Social Media Coverage
    • Player Profiles Updated with Stats and Awards
    • Tournament Leaderboards, Player of the Game Coverage, MVP & MVP Pitcher Awards
    • Cost is $275 per player, Pitcher Only is free. Roster is limited.

      • July 18-21 Five Tool California OC Summer Bash in Orange County. Play 4 games against top competition in front of local recruiters and through social media channels. Cost is $250 per player, Pitcher Only is free. Roster is limited.

      Each event is priced separately and paid two weeks prior to event and only payment guarantees spot on roster.

      Package price for all three above events is $599.

ABOUT BLUE WAVE

Established in 1996, Blue Wave is one of the oldest and most respected “non-profit” club baseball organizations in Orange County. Blue Wave teams have played 6,500+ games, won 150+ tournaments, 12 national championships, and been nationally ranked on multiple occasions.

More than 400 Blue Wave alumni have played or are playing collegiate baseball at some of the top programs in the country, including UCI, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Cal State University Fullerton, Stanford, PENN, Gonzaga, USF, University of Miami, Pepperdine, Long Beach State, Fresno State, Nebraska, Indiana, Kansas, Sacramento State, UCSB, Santa Clara, Clemson and more.

More than three dozen Blue Wave alumni have played or are playing or coaching Major League Baseball (MLB), including current Mariners Dylan Moore, Oakland A’s starter James Kaprielian, Rangers catcher Austin Hedges, Angels catcher Chad Wallach, and San Francisco Giants hitting coach Justin Viele.

Former Blue Wavers in college positions include Wes Oberlin Director of Development – Athletics at Sacramento State and Matt Florer, Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator.

Former either former Blue Wave players or coaches include Brett Kay (JSerra), Rich Pohle (Brea-Olinda), Bret LeVier (San Juan Hills), Jason Smith (Canyon),  Gabe Cota (Irvine),  Ben Owen (Tustin), and Drew Hillman (Laguna Hills).

A WINNING TRADITION

Longtime Orange County youth baseball Coach Aron Garcia is director of player development at all levels for Blue Wave’s highly regarded High School Player and Collegiate Preparation Programs that are focused on developing players for the next level for any ballplayer at any age.

Garcia is one of the top youth team coaches in the Western region and excels at preparing players for high school, college and beyond. In his 18 years as a coach, several hundred of his former players have gone on to play college and professionally.

Garcia’s teams are consistently competitive and highly ranked every year, he has more than 70 tournament and league titles to his credit, as well as 14U national championships in 2009 and 2010. His high school varsity-level teams have won numerous tournaments and showcase events.

His 14U team was 67-14 in 2010, ranked 18th in the nation by Perfect Game national scouting service, and finished first or second in more than a dozen tournaments over a five-month span. His 11U team won 7 out of eight tournaments they entered in 2015 and were ranked No. 1 in Southern California and No. 10 nationally by USSSA.

Garcia’s 2018 Blue Wave 12U team won eight tournament titles in eight months, compiling a 53-8-2 record that was capped off with the Cooperstown All-Star Village Week 9 Championship.

Garcia is also well experienced in playing in national tournaments; he was a member of the 1987 Northwood Little League team that played Taiwan in the Little League World Series.

He was featured in a feature article in the OC Register about his experience in the LLWS, as well as when he was featured in a June 27, 1988 Sports Illustrated as “The Comeback Kid.” And, in case you missed it, you can read the online version here HERE.

He was also a four-year varsity starter at Irvine High School, where he played shortstop. After high school, he attended Saddleback College, where he played baseball and football. He has coached baseball and football since 1996 at Irvine High School, Mater Dei Northwood High School, and currently at Crean Lutheran High School, Irvine.
