TRYOUT FOR NEW 13U HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT TEAM

Blue Wave is conducting open tryouts for a new 13U team for the 2024 Spring-Summer team that is focused on preparing for high school baseball and will practice three to four times each week.

Coach Ryan Lavalle will manage this new team for incoming 7th graders and will focus on conditioning, skills development, infield drills, outfield drills, bullpens with catchers and pitchers, as well as scrimmage gameplay for additional live reps.

Coach Lavalle is an exceptional coach, trainer, and instructor and served as varsity hitting coach at Beckman High School and has also worked with the San Francisco Giants.

“After talking with numerous parents and players, there is a significant need to have more practice sessions and teaching more skills to players that are serious about playing at the high school level,” Coach Lavalle states.

PRACTICE THREE TIMES WEEKLY IN IRVINE

In general, Blue Wave 13U will conduct fielding practice each Tuesday and Friday at OC Great Park, Irvine, and also hit each Wednesday at the Beckman High School.

When not playing in tournaments twice monthly, the team will conduct optional practice or scout-style scrimmage sessions on Saturdays.

Blue Wave 13U monthly training fees are $250 per player for all three weekly practice sessions, optional Saturday sessions will be priced separately when scheduled.

LOCAL TOURNAMENTS & SCRIMMAGE GAMES

Blue Wave 13U will play tournaments twice a month and occasional scrimmage games.

Player fee for local tournaments is $70 to $95 per player depending on tournament entry fee and coaching expenses. Scrimmage games & double headers range from $25 to $35 per game depending on field cost, umpire fees, baseballs, etc.

Game & Tournament fees are also paid online 48 hours prior to the event.

TRYOUT PROCESS

First off, all new players must REGISTER online to schedule a tryout or attend an open tryout, practice, or game with Blue Wave. There is no cost to register.

Typically, new players will attend both a fielding and hitting practice session at no cost.

Once the player has completed both tryouts, Coach Lavalle will either offer the player a roster spot on his team or pass on the player.

Blue Wave also offers “Practice Only” options for players that do not want to play with the teams but want to practice, either fielding or hitting sessions. Practice Only slots are limited.

Open tryouts are now set for 5:30 to 7:30 TUE JAN 9 on OC Great Park Field 9.

LAVALLE TO LEAD 13U

Coach Ryan Lavalle skippers the Blue Wave 13U team for the 2024 season.

Ryan comes with a solid baseball pedigree and a rich family history in coaching at the high school level in California, including his father Kevin Lavalle, present head coach at Beckman High School.

Coach Ryan has also served as varsity hitting coach at Beckman High School, where he also played.

He has worked as a private coach since 2017 and previously worked for the San Francisco Giants.

Coach Lavalle’s mantra is “Baseball Made Simple!”

“Baseball at its core is a simple game. Because of how difficult it is to succeed in this sport, many people over complicate it,” Lavalle noted. “I believe the best way to help a player learn and grow is to show them both the right way and the wrong way. A player should not only what works, they should also know why it works.”

Besides coaching Blue Wave 13U, Ryan offers private lessons through Ryan Lavalle Baseball at (714) 457-8858 or
