TRYOUT NOW FOR 13U FALL TEAM

Blue Wave Baseball is now conducting open tryouts for its new 13U team for the 2023 Fall-Winter season.

Blue Wave 13U Coach Michael Brady is starting a completely new team for incoming 7th graders and will focus on conditioning, skills development, infield drills, outfield drills, bullpens with catchers and pitchers, as well as scrimmage gameplay for live reps.

Coach Brady is an exceptional coach, trainer, and instructor who has played D1 college ball for the California-Berkeley Golden Bears and played professionally as an infielder and pitcher.

PRACTICE TWICE WEEKLY IN IRVINE

In general, Blue Wave 13U conducts fielding practice each Monday at OC Great Park, Irvine, and hit every Thursday at the Northwood High School varsity batting cage.

Blue Wave 13U practice sessions for the year are posted here and priced individually. Blue Wave team players pay $30 per fielding session and $25 per hitting session.

Players only pay practice session fees if they can participate – you never pay for practices if you are not there!

All practice sessions must be paid online at least 24 hours prior to a practice session.

LOCAL TOURNAMENTS & SCRIMMAGE GAMES

Blue Wave 13U will play tournaments twice a month and occasional scrimmage games.

Player fee for local tournaments is $95 per player, and scrimmage games & double headers range from $25 to $35 per player.

Game & Tournament fees are also paid online 48 hours prior to the event.

TEAM TRYOUT PROCESS

First off, all new players must REGISTER online to schedule a tryout or attend an open tryout, practice, or game with Blue Wave. There is no cost to register.

Typically, new players will attend both a fielding and hitting practice session at no cost.

Once the player has completed both tryouts, Coach Brady will either offer the player a roster spot on his team or pass on the player.

Blue Wave also offers “Practice Only” options for players that do not want to play with the teams but want to practice, either fielding or hitting sessions. Practice Only slots are limited.

Former MLB pitcher Michael Brady is head coach for Blue Wave 2027 team and resident pitching coach for Blue Wave players at all levels.

Brady grew up in Rancho Santa Margarita and attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School where he played on the high school baseball team.

After graduation, he played for the University of California-Berkeley Golden Bears and was drafted as a shortstop by the Florida Marlins in the 24th round of the 2009 MLB draft.

After playing 3rd and 2nd in Class A and Rookie league in 2009, Brady moved to pitching for the Jamestown Jammers in 2010 where he had a 1.59 ERA in 49 games out of the bullpen.

Over the next several years Brady pitched at all levels for the Marlins, Los Angeles Angels, Washington Nationals, and the Oakland Athletics, where he made his major league debut in 2017.

Besides his high school, collegiate and professional experience, Coach Brady has experience working with youth players and club teams. He also gives private lessons in pitching, fielding, and hitting.

Beside taking incoming freshman summer team, Coach Brady will also work with both 14U and 13U players at practice sessions and focus on working with our pitchers and bullpens on Thursdays.
