Blue Wave 18U is now registering returning players and will conduct tryouts for new players for the 2018 Fall-Winter season from 5:30 to 7:30 PM WED AUG 29 at Vanguard University, 55 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, for both Sunday league and showcase tournament teams.
Blue Wave 18U is for Varsity-level high school starters regardless of their graduation year, though predominately 2019/2020 grads.
The Blue Wave 18U Fall League team will play 10 nine-inning games on Sundays in the highly competitive USA Premier wood-bat league in SEPT, OCT and NOV with breaks for optional local showcase and tournament events, including:
- USA Premier Fall Classic (OCT 5-8) is hosted by USA Premier Baseball on Orange County high school and college fields. Each team plays three showcase games that typically draws local collegiate recruiters and scouts throughout the weekend.
- Under Armour SoCal Classic (OCT 26-28) for Upperclass players (2019 grad years and younger) is also a pure three-game showcase format played on SoCal high school and collegiate fields. Each game is scored and scouted by a Team One-Under Armour scout and numerous local college recruiters attend some of the bigger games and venues.
- Cory Lidle Thanksgiving Classic (NOV 23-25) is the top competitive showcase tournament of the Fall season with games played throughout Southern California for both high school and club baseball programs. This event is a tournament format with playoff brackets and championship in each age division.
Cost to play on the Sunday wood bat league team is $495 per player and includes 10 games (weather permitting) and four weekly practice sessions at Vanguard University in September to better prepare the team for league and showcase/tournament play.
Players can elect to participate on either a league team, showcase/tournament team, or both upon approval of Blue Wave 18U Coach Tim Stewart.
REGISTRATION AND PAYMENTS
All new players must REGISTER HERE online to tryout or play with Blue Wave, there is no cost to register.
Registered returning players simply need to send an eMail to let us know they will be attending tryouts and which team or events they want to participate in.
All player fees for league teams must be paid prior to September 1 to guarantee a roster position. Player fees for showcase and tournament events must be paid two weeks prior to the event to guarantee a roster position.
Player fees can be paid online on this team page or by check payable to “Blue Wave Athletics” and presented to the team coach by the start of the season. Absolutely no refunds once the season, showcase, or tournament starts.

TIM STEWART TO COACH 18U
Blue Wave has added high school coaching veteran Tim Stewart to its ranks as head coach for Blue Wave 18U and major showcase events.
Coach Stewart joins the Blue Wave staff with a wealth of baseball knowledge and experience.
He was a standout player at Mater Dei in the early 2000s, earning 1st team All-League (2003) and All-County honors his senior year (03).
He went on to play collegiately at UC Irvine (04-05) and UCLA (06-07), the latter where he got his degree in Sociology.
After finishing his college career, Coach Stewart went on to be a player/manager in France for the Paris Universite Club and the Savigny Sur Orge Lions, where he led his teams to the French finals in multiple years and the Euro Cups against the top teams in Europe.
Part of his duties within both organizations was leading the youth programs, something he took great pride in. After three years in France he came back to Southern California to start his youth and high school coaching career.
Coach Stewart joined the Mater Dei coaching staff in October 2011 and spent the next five years coaching numerous athletes that went on to play in college and the pros; his teams were also nationally ranked (#1 in 2013).
During this time he also got started in the travel baseball world, becoming Orange County Director for Team Cal Baseball, winning numerous local tournaments and placing in national tournaments in Arizona and Georgia.
He went on to start his own youth travel ball program based out of Mater Dei, OC Pioneers, getting players ready for the high school game.
Coach Stewart currently works as a Loan Advisor for RPM Mortgage based out of Newport Beach and resides in Huntington Beach with his fiancé, two kids, and two dogs.
